Activity of the BRITA TRADE Ltd.
links to 80 - year - long tradition of applied research of glass in
the Czech Republic. Since the 20s of last century Hradec Králové town
has become an oasis for all glass specialists where they can always
find support, new thoughts, new technologies. Main activities of the
Glass Institution, founded by turn of 1922 - 1923
 -
laboratory service for industry
- cooperation with manufacturing plants at introducing of new technologies
- basic research of annealing, colouring and qualities of glass
- publication and educational activities
were amplified after the World War Two and they were specialised mainly
in
- basic research of glass
- research of melted rocks
- research of melting and annealing of glass
- introducing of optical glass production in the Czech Republic
- development and realisation of all electric melting of glass
Introducing of the production of colour filters, protective glass,
technical and sealing glass, special glass for electronics, production
of melted basalt, chemically resistant borate and silicate glass (SIAL,
SIMAX) etc., they were important research and realisation achievements
of the Institution. Since1978 the Glass Institute has been charged
with the function of leader working place of scientific technical
development for basic and applied research in glass field. Other realisation
achievements succeeded mainly in the introducing of electric melting
of glass, including jewellery glass, solution of technologies and
parison for production of glass fibers ROTAFLEX and
REZISTEX.
In the 80s, at the thrive of the Institution, (550 employees including
detached workplaces) the main task became the development and preparing
of small tonnage production of glass and intermediate products for
optoelectronics and microelectronics and for production of special
optical glass. Hand in hand with strong political changes in1989 large
changes in the activity of the Institution occurred. A lot of employees
left and the 90s are characterised by attenuation of many activities
and also by grand organisational changes - dividing of the Institution
into two workplaces:
- Private join stock company possessing most of technological
facilities
- National testing laboratory, which influenced deeply the activity
of other specialists.
This crisis interval was broken distinctly by change of
the Institution owner- the prosperous BRISK company Tábor
- and by establishing of two subsidiary companies:
- BRITA TRADE, Ltd.
- Glass Institution Hradec Králové, Ltd.
which are both " bearing the torch of that amazing
hot matter getting cold into glass".
BRITA TRADE, Ltd. develops and produces products
from special glass:
- protected glass against effects of ionising radiation
- solders and special glass for electronics
- lithium and borate fluxing agents for RTG fluorescent analysis
- filter glass with define transmission of light curve
We also assure technological service for our customers (for example
defects elimination in glass products, problems at glass production,
checking of new types of parison, etc.). On basis of theoretical and
practical experience the company also checks new technologies in glass
and ceramic production.

2. Solders and special glass for electronics - creating
of joints between two materials with various thermal extensibility,
for example: glass- metal, glass - glass, glass ceramics, (glass and
glass crystalline)

3. Lithium and borate fluxing agents - RTG fluorescent
analysis - laboratories (it is used for identification of contamination
and defects of raw materials and products in steel, cement, ceramics
and glass industry)
4. Filter glass - plant instrumentation and measurements
- everywhere where it is necessary to filter off, absorb or let through
radiation with certain wave length (cameras, safety and lighting technology) |
